The first step is to know exactly how much money you are willing to spend on a new coffee maker. There are $10.00 models that make a great basic cup of coffee and there are $100.00 models that are a lot more elaborate with what functions it can perform. The next step is to figure out exactly what functions you want your new coffee maker to have. Do you want one that you can preset to have your coffee already made when you wake up? Do you want an espresso feature? Make a list of what you want. Take these two lists with you when you go shopping.
When you decide to go shopping make sure the store has a great return policy. You don’t want to get your new coffee maker home and it doesn’t work or you just don’t like it. Make sure the store will let you exchange the item or refund your money if you are not satisfied.
Make sure to look for a coffee maker that is simple to operate. If you have to babysit the machine and flip this switch on, now flip this switch off then it’s probably not going to make you happy. A good way to know before you buy is to jot down the brand and model and go online to see what people are saying about the product before you buy.
Another factor you need to keep in mind is the amount of cups that you want to be able to make at one time. If there is only one coffee drinker in your home there is no need for a 10-cup coffee maker. If you plan on using your coffee maker as a entertaining appliance, than opt for a large capacity model that way you can serve several cups of coffee to your guests all at once.
Remember, you get what you pay for. A cheap, off-brand coffee maker may work great for a couple of months and then just stop. Did you get your money’s worth? Well, that just depends on how much you have really used the appliance.
I’m not against off-brand appliances but just know if you want one that will last and have a great warranty to back it up, you just might want to spend a few extra bucks on a brand name appliance.
Hope this helps you create a list for your next coffee maker purchase. I always keep an extra one for backup. Just in case. I can’t go without my morning cup of coffee.
